Coordinating Economic Minister Hatta Rajasa ordered that the fire at the Pertamina refinery in Cilacap, Central Java, should be completely extinguished no later than today.
“Try to finish this today. Don’t allow the international community to grow anxious,” he told Pertamina President Director Karen Agustiawan in Cilacap, as quoted by Kompas.com.
Cilacap’s Tunggul Wulung airport was ordered to be prepared to accommodate flights on a 24-hour basis to help accelerate the process of putting out the fire.
The fire began Saturday when an explosion occurred at the state-owned refinery’s tank 3102.
Hatta met Karen in the airport for an emergency 10 minute meeting before heading off to the refinery. He told Karen to also be present at the location.
