Agency Search And Rescue (SAR) is still searching for victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Mentawai District, West Sumatra.


"We still continue to search for victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Mentawai District," said Head of the SAR, West Sumatra, Zainul Thahar, in Padang, on Wednesday.

According to him, there are still many victims who lost or were killed by the quake along with the Tsunami in Mentawai District. "There have been many people who report lost relatives when the earthquake and tsunami," he said.

He added, in search of victims assisted missing and dead from the public, police and military. "We did a search for the victim lost and dead in a few islands in the Mentawai District," he said.

Separately, Chief of Staff Maj. Inf Kodim 0319 Mentawai Heriadi, said the current residents in desperate need of logistical and medical supplies in refugee camps. "Besides, we also need some body bags, and tents," he said.

According to him, the people who are in displaced both places of worship and the hills, very difficult to get food. "Moreover, current conditions, big waves is very difficult for citizens to get help," he said.

He added that logistics in several camps for displaced people enough for a few days. "Victims who are in refugee camps hoping logistic support quickly came to the Mentawai District," he said.

Based on data BPBD Sumatra, until this morning sebanyak112 people dead, 502 missing, and 4,000 heads of families displaced.
