TEHERAN - Iran not ready to accept Turkey's aid to earthquake victims in the Persian nation, according to news agency, ISNA, Monday (13/8).

Aid from Turkey has been sent to Iran without coordination, and because Iran has announced the country would not accept international aid, the Turkish aid was restored, said an official with the help of the Red Crescent in Azerbaijan province, eastern Iran to ISNA.

But on the same day, Iran's official IRNA news agency reported the first wave of humanitarian aid have been sent by the Ministry of Emergencies, the Republic of Azerbaijan, to the ravaged areas of the earthquake in northwestern Iran, eastern Azerbaijan.

The relief supplies include food ingredients such as flour, rice, sugar, cooking oil, and pasta as well as blankets and tents, Xinhua quoted as saying by IRNA said.

A number of countries, including Turkey, Russia, United Arab Emirates and the United States has offered assistance to the Islamic Republic of Iran in connection with the strong earthquake, but the Iranian Red Crescent has stated that the organization has dealt with the problem alone.

Earthquake with a strength of 6.2 on the Richter scale, with a depth of 10 kilometers, shaking Ahar at 16:53 local time (19:23 GMT), Saturday (11/8). Meanwhile, aftershocks with a strength of 6.0, also with a depth of 10 kilometers, shaking Varzagan at 17:04 local time (19:34 GMT), the Iranian Seismological Center said.
