President Barack Obama on Tuesday expressed sorrow for the various natural disasters in Indonesia, the tsunami in Indonesia and promised to help.

"First Lady Michelle and I am very saddened by the loss of life, injuries, and damage that has occurred as a result of the earthquake and tsunami in West Sumatra," said Obama.

'At the same time, I am heartened and encouraged by the remarkable resilience of the Indonesian people and the Government's commitment to quickly help the victims, as friends of Indonesia, the United States is always ready to help in any way, "he said.

At least 108 people were killed, and hundreds are still missing Wednesday after a tsunami hit the coast of remote Mentawai islands. While in Central Java, Mount Merapi eruption causes at least a dozen people dead.

7.7 magnitude earthquake struck the Mentawai Islands west of Sumatra on Monday night, producing a 3-meter-high waves that swept 10 villages.
